What is Thrive Langton?

Thrive Langton is a community-led charity brought to life by a growing group of people who believe in the power of community for supporting well-being and emotional health. By connecting with each other and providing opportunities for everyone in Langton Green, we aim to encourage one another to nurture our own well-being and emotional health through art, music, learning, information-sharing, social interaction, engagement with nature and physical activity. The “Five Ways to Well-being” underpin everything we do.

News & Events

Film Screening of "Steve"

Thursday 13th June 2024

We invite you to attend a special screening of STEVE – a documentary about male mental health.

Trigger warning : suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. 12 men a day. 1 every 2 hours. One of those men was Steve Yates. But Steve was more than a number, he was a father, a son, a brother, and a friend. And director Ben Akers’s childhood best friend.

In this 90-minute documentary, Ben goes on a mission to look at why this is happening. And what men can do to help themselves.

While the subject matter is sensitive, Ben has created an empowering film of real warmth, and hope, that tries to push us all on from Mental Health Awareness to Mental Health Action. You won’t want to miss it.

Please join us at the Langton Community Hub in the Pavilion Cafe on Thursday 13th June from 7.30pm where refreshments will be available before the film begins at 8pm. The documentary is about men but is not exclusively for men – all adults welcome.

Entry is free, but donations on the night are very welcome. Half of the evening’s proceeds will go to Ben Aker’s charity TALK CLUB.

First Moon Circle

Sunday 9th June 2024. 2.00 – 5.00pm

Beth, of Bloom & Belong, is a teacher and qualified menstrual cycle coach and first moon facilitator. Her session encourages young girls aged 9-13, together with their mums or female guardian, to explore puberty education in a positive and enhancing way.

The sessions are small – maximum 6 people – to encourage a warm and safe environment in which to discuss all areas regarding puberty, periods and self-care. To book your place, please email hello@thrivelangton.org

The session is £15 for Mum/daughter.

Location: Grace Space, All Saints Church, Langton

Art Adventures

Thursday 6th June 2024, 7.30 – 9.30pm

This monthly two-hour session is designed for anyone who would like to be creative with company! If you have your own project that is easily portable, please bring it along.

If you would like to learn to knit or crochet but haven’t invested in any of the equipment yet, then we have all the things you’ll need. To date, we have united in all sorts of different artistic endeavours, from painting by numbers to sewing, and from knitting to tangle patterns.

Location : Langton Community Hub at the Pavilion Cafe
